Jordan: Competitive performances despite early elimination

Jordan’s World Cup journey will end after the group stage, with consecutive defeats to Austria (1-3) and Algeria (1-2) ending their hopes of reaching the knockout rounds. Although they remain without a point, the tournament newcomers have earned respect with their positive approach, showing a willingness to attack rather than simply defend against stronger opponents.

Argentina: Qualified with ease, but Messi still eager to play

Argentina have cruised through their opening two matches, defeating Algeria 3-0 before comfortably overcoming Austria 2-0 to secure first place in the group ahead of schedule. Lionel Scaloni’s side have been equally impressive at both ends of the pitch, combining clinical finishing with a disciplined defensive display.

The Albiceleste have barely allowed opponents any opportunities. Algeria failed to register a shot on target, while Austria managed just one effort on goal throughout the match, highlighting Argentina’s defensive control.

With qualification already guaranteed, Scaloni is expected to rotate several starters to keep his squad fresh for the knockout stage. Nevertheless, reports from Argentina suggest Lionel Messi is keen to feature and could play at least the opening half. Cristian Romero remains unavailable through injury, but Argentina’s depth means they can still field a highly competitive lineup.
